A total of 14 researchers from the University of Lleida (UdL) and the University of Barcelona (UB) attached to Agrotecnio are in the database of the most cited scientific personnel in the world, prepared by Stanford University (USA), the scientometrics company SciTech Strategies Inc. and the scientific publisher Elsevier, according to the latest update that has been made this October with data from 2022. Gustavo Slafer, from the Escola Tècnica Superior d’Enginyeria Agroalimentària i Forestal i de Veterinària (ETSEAFiV) and principal investigator of the Crop Physiology research group, is the best positioned taking into account last year’s scientific production, in position 18,361 (24,834 the previous year).
Also appearing in this ranking are Olga Martín Belloso, leader of the New Technologies for Food Processing group, in position 33,022; Paul Christou, principal investigator of the Applied Plant Biotechnology group, in position 42,968; Laura Salvia-Trujillo, of the New Technologies for Food Processing group, in position 62,294; José L. Araus, principal investigator of the Plant Phenomics group (UB), in position 66. 434; Conxa Ramos, from the Agronomy group, in position 70,187; Robert Soliva, from the New Technologies for Food Processing group, in position 80,227; Sònia Marín, from Applied Mycology, in position 88,656; Víctor Resco, from the Forestry Production group, in position 97,982; as well as Albert Ibarz, from the New Technologies for Food Processing group, in position 130,621.
Below position 150,000 are José A. Martínez-Casasasnovas, from the AgroICT and Precision Agriculture Group, in position 158,588; Changfu Zhu (Applied Plant Biotechnology, †), in position 184,349; Isabel Lara (Postharvest Biology and Technology), 197,850; and Lorenzo Fraile (Animal Breeding), in position 428,619.
The number 1 at international level for 2022 continues to be Zhong Ling Wang, formerly at the Georgia Institute of Technology (USA) and now at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Avelino Corma, from the Institute of Chemical Technology (ITQ-CSIC-UPV) remains the top Spaniard, in 94th position on the list. As for Catalan institutions, Manel Esteller, from the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute, is in 243rd position.
Worldwide, of the 204,644 people who appear in this database, the most outstanding scientist is Michale Grätzel, from the Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (Switzerland).
