My main area of expertise is focused in the gut microbial studies and the use of in vitro techniques as platforms to approach those studies. Thus, improvement in the knowledge about microbiota in the different gut systems and their stability and diversity across the different mammals, can help us to understand potential nutrition-based pathologies, and also to manipulate it to achieve an improvement in the feed efficiency and a decrease in the GHG (greenhouse gases) emissions.
