Research

I’m interested in the “practical” optimisation of processes related with agriculture and livestock production. Operational research is a multidisciplinary discipline involving mathematics, economics and engineering aimed at solving real problems. Some of the managerial problems in which I’m interested are the replacement of sows, the optimal delivery of fattened pigs to the slaughterhouse or the coordination of the pig supply chain. These problems are usually dealt with traditional methods while mathematical models and IT technologies can be combined to produce better and quicker solutions. As result herd or farm management becomes more efficient and profitable. My interest goes beyond swine management as many managerial problems in agriculture share the same structure.
