On 26 April, a training day will be held on pest control in urban ecosystems where the Guide to natural enemies of pests in urban green spaces, written by Xavier Pons, Roberto Meseguer and Belén Lumbierres, from the crop protection group of Agrotecnio and the entomology group of the Department of Plant Production and Forestry Science of the University of Lleida, will also be presented.
This guide is the result of more than twenty years of work of the group and presents the main groups of natural enemies of pests that can be found in urban green spaces. It has been created as a support tool for pest management and control personnel in urban ecosystems, but also for the public interested in the biodiversity of fauna in parks and gardens in cities and towns.
The conference on 26th April will take place in the Civic Centre of the Castell i la Verneda, in Malgrat de Mar, and the town councillor, Jordi Lluís Farré Adrogué will open the session. Ramon Albajes, professor of the University of Lleida, former director of Agrotecnio and member of the crop protection group, will also give a welcome speech. During the session, the authors of the Guide (Pons, Meseguer and Lumbierres) will present the publication, followed by a talk about the 15 years of experience in the integrated management of pests in the green spaces of Malgrat de Mar, by Carles García (responsible of Green Spaces of the Town Council of Malgrat de Mar) and Mònica Bedós (consultant in GIP Parks and gardens of Adalia Gestió). The session will end with a technical visit to the Francesc Macià Park of this town. The full agenda of the event can be downloaded here.
