- Stanford University publishes the list of the most cited researchers internationally in 2024
- Thirty-six researchers from the University of Lleida appear on the list, 13 of whom are affiliated with Agrotecnio.
A total of seven researchers and six researchers from Agrotecnio appear in the latest update of the database of the most cited scientists worldwide, compiled by experts from Stanford University (United States), the scientometrics company
SciTech Strategies Inc. and the scientific publisher
Elsevier. The ranking is based on scientific output in 2024 and includes 14 researchers from Agrotecnio, 13 linked to the University of Lleida and one to the University of Barcelona.
The highest-ranked Agrotecnio researcher is
Gustavo A. Slafer, head of the Crop Physiology group, who ranks 23,906th. He is followed by
José Luis Araus (Crop Physiology, researcher at the University of Barcelona, ranked 42,121),
Olga Martín-Belloso (New Technologies for Food Processing, ranked 42,193),
Fernando López-Gatius (Animal Production, 61,133);
Paul Christou (Applied Plant Biotechnology, 78,264);
Laura Salvia-Trujillo (New Technologies for Food Processing, 82,671);
Robert Soliva-Fortuny (New Technologies for Food Processing, 89,445);
Víctor Resco de Dios (Forest Management, 93,420) and
Concha Ramos (Agronomy, 95,325). From position 100,000 onwards, we also find
Sònia Marín (Applied Mycology, 122,879);
José Antonio Martínez-Casasnovas (Agro-ICT and Precision Agriculture, 129,412);
Isabel Lara (Biology and Post-Harvest Technology 160,777);
Roxana Savin (Crop Physiology, 290,934); and
Lorenzo Fraile (Animal Breeding, 508,877).
The University of Lleida has a total of 36 researchers on the list, among whom
Luisa F. Cabeza Fabra, professor of labour studies at the Higher Polytechnic School, stands out. She continues to be the highest-ranked researcher at the UdL for another year, in 1,252nd place, with 4,958 references excluding self-citations. The University of Barcelona, for its part, has 157 researchers in the ranking. The UB is the university in Spain with the most cited research staff.
Zhong Ling Wang, from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, remains number one internationally in 2024, with 40,519 citations. Avelino Corma, from the Institute of Chemical Technology (ITQ-CSIC-UPV), also repeats as the top Spanish researcher, this time in 139th place on the list.
