AgroICT, Precision Agriculture and Livestock Farming
Objectives
The AgroICT, Precision Agriculture and Livestock Farming group (GRAP) works to improve the productive efficiency and sustainability of farms, as well as to reduce their environmental impact through ICT solutions and precision agriculture and livestock farming. The GRAP was founded in 2002 and joined Agrotecnio in 2014. It is an internationally recognised group for its research, dissemination and outreach in this field. In 2025, the Precision Livestock Farming section was expanded with new members and new lines of research to meet the research and transfer needs of the sector.
Research lines
- Precision Agriculture:
- Terrestrial crop and soil sensors.
- Fruit detection and crop estimation.
- Remote sensing applications.
- Data analysis and decision-making.
- Precision application of plant protection products.
- Precision livestock farming:
- Optimisation and planning of livestock production.
- Digitisation and big data analysis on pig farms.
- Digital twins and data visualisation.
- Application of artificial intelligence in pig farming.
- Cloud-based decision-making systems.

- Development of digital twins for farms, slaughterhouses and processing plants.
- IoT platform to optimise pig logistics.
- Computer vision applications on pig farms.
International impact
GRAP members regularly participate in international conferences, and some are members of the editorial boards of specialist journals and the Programme Committee of the European Conference on Precision Farming, as well as being members of the International Society for Precision Agriculture (ISPA). Some members have also been founders of the National Association for Precision Farming.
They are also part of the Spanish Precision Livestock Farming Network (REDIGA) and participate in the European Conference on Precision Livestock Farming (ECPLF). Other networks they have coordinated or are coordinating include BigDSSAgro (Big Data and decision support systems in agriculture) and AI4AgroIB (Artificial Intelligence for agriculture in Latin America). Within the industrial mathematics network (Math-In), it is the only group that offers mathematical modelling and data analysis services to agricultural companies.
