I study fruit responses to stress conditions that occur during post-harvest handling, profiling volatile compounds. My research has always focused on volatile emissions from fruit and the relationships between cold chain storage technology and consumer acceptance. Environmental factors include practices such as fertilisation, controlled atmosphere and skin shelf life in post-harvest fruit. The overall objective is to identify volatile compounds to improve consumer satisfaction and develop predictive volatile markers to detect stress conditions in fruit crops.
