More than 100 researchers and members of the CERCA center Agrotecnio participated in the second edition of ‘Teambuilding’, an internal communication activity that fosters group spirit and promotes knowledge among the members of the community, and which aims to become an annual event for all the center’s staff.
The day began with a meeting of the ‘Early Career Forum’, an event aimed at the youngest research staff, who are currently studying for their doctorate or have recently completed their studies. These meetings address cross-cutting issues to help young researchers develop their professional careers. In this edition, the aim of the forum was to gather ideas for organizing more meetings during the 2024-2025 academic year that respond to the needs and wishes of young researchers.
During the morning, several participatory events were scheduled to strengthen internal cohesion. As explained in his welcome speech the director of Agrotecnio, José Antonio Bonet, “Teambuiling aims to be a tool to improve relations between staff and create affinities, improve communication and the working environment”.
After the welcome, the staff was able to participate in an ‘Agrogymcana’, designed to entertain and deepen some topics related to the research carried out at the centre. The participants had to overcome a total of 8 different tests such as blind tastings (of wine, ham, beer or kombutcha), making human figures, running a sack race, or sorting objects without seeing them.
The winning team received a diploma and a basket of products from a local cooperative. The blind tastings were led by Mª Paz Romero, head researcher of the Bioactive Components of Food group and Francisco Molino, researcher of the Applied Mycology group.
The day ended with a lunch served outside the centre.
The CERCA center Agrotecnio, was created in 2012 and since then has maintained a steady growth trajectory. With more than 150 scientists organised in fifteen research groups and linked to two Catalan universities, Agrotecnio is today one of the most relevant research centres in agrotechnology in Spain.
