Fundació Centre de Recerca en Agrotecnologia
Established in 2014, its aim is to promote, develop, transfer, manage and disseminate high-impact research in the field of agri-food. Its research activity is based on agronomic and environmental sciences, animal science and food science and technology, also integrating other disciplines such as agrifood law. The centre adopts a holistic perspective that advocates for One Health, recognising the interconnectedness between human, animal, plant and environmental health.
Agrotecnio directs its research towards sustainable intensification, efficient transformation, health and nutrition.
The centre addresses most key elements of the food production chain in an integrated manner, from seed to table, developing cutting-edge fundamental research with a translational focus, which seeks to transfer the new knowledge generated to society as a whole.
An essential element of the centre’s operation is the wide variety of collaborations with institutions worldwide. Agrotecnio has research groups representing various fields within plant, environmental, animal and food sciences, as well as agri-food law, which interact to launch innovative and integrative projects that respond to the major challenges of the agri-food sector.
In 2024, Agrotecnio approved its Strategic Plan for 2024-2029, which sets the centre’s strategic and operational direction for a period of six years.
