Objectives
The objective of the Agri-Food Law group is to promote legal research applied to the agri-food sector from an interdisciplinary perspective, integrating public and private law at both national and international levels, together with the social and economic dimensions, and fostering initiatives that encourage innovation and progress in the sector.

- Legal aspects of innovation and new technologies applied to the agri-food sector: novel foods, GMOs, new genomic techniques, plant varieties, industrial and intellectual property
- Environmental sustainability, circular economy and bioeconomy in the agri-food sector
- Food chain, commercial relations and business models
- Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and rural development
- Consumer protection, food information and quality schemes
- Food safety, water security, animal welfare, public health and risk management
- Food governance and regulation of the agri-food system: public policies and better regulation
Main activities
- Promotion of knowledge transfer to the agri-food sector
- Participation in interdisciplinary research calls and initiatives
- Organisation and participation in conferences, seminars and outreach activities
International impact
The AgriFood Law research group aims to position itself as an international benchmark by establishing collaborations with universities and research centres in other countries, participating in international networks and projects, and contributing to the global debate on the legal, social and economic challenges of the agri-food system.
