Project
Camelina
Camelina cultivation in irrigation systems. An alternative crop for the diversification and sustainability of Catalan agricultural systems.
What is it?
Project studying the growth and productivity of camelina and, therefore, its viability in different irrigation systems. Camelina is an oilseed crop, drought-tolerant, with a short growth cycle, suitable for Mediterranean rainfed systems, and presents itself as an interesting option for inclusion in irrigation systems. It is being studied specifically in fields with supplemental irrigation, both by flooding and sprinkling, with water applied at key stages of crop growth.
Objectives
- Assess the viability and promote the integration of camelina into crop rotations.
- Address the need to adapt agriculture to a context of climate change and water scarcity, offering farmers an efficient and profitable alternative to ensure the sustainability of irrigation systems in Catalonia.
