My research focuses on vegetation and soil fungal dynamics, disturbance, and ecosystem recovery, providing a strong conceptual framework for understanding how above-belowground interactions shape ecosystem responses to global change. I integrate plant community ecology, soil biota, and functional approaches to understand how biotic interactions and edaphic constraints regulate ecosystem structure and functioning. Currently, I am particularly interested in ecosystem functionality and nature-based solutions, with a particular emphasis on identifying the drivers and trade-offs that determine the delivery of multiple ecosystem services. My work aims to bridge fundamental ecological theory with applied restoration ecology and land management, contributing to the development of ecosystems that are practical to manage and maintain over time.
