My research areas focus on the field of precision agriculture, specifically the use of sensors in agriculture, spatial data analysis, and the development of decision support and field sampling systems. In terms of sensor use, I work with mobile terrestrial laser scanners (MTLS) to characterise the canopy of tree crops and assess their suitability for modelling lighting conditions in the canopies of fruit trees and vines. I am also evaluating different sampling schemes to estimate yield and quality parameters in these crops, using spectral indices and on-the-go soil sensors as auxiliary information to guide sampling more efficiently. I typically apply multivariate statistical and geostatistical methods to analyse and interpret these data at different spatial and temporal scales.
