My research focuses on assessing and developing innovative tools to control viral diseases, with an emphasis on porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) from a One Health perspective. I study breed-specific host responses to PRRS virus infection to inform genetic strategies for disease control, evaluate the efficacy of both novel and currently available PRRS vaccines across diverse viral strains and test emerging antiviral therapies for veterinary viral infections. By integrating these approaches, I aim to improve animal health and productivity while supporting more sustainable, resilient and efficient agricultural systems.
