SustainRice CPP2021-008903. Blast-resistant semi-dwarf rice: a contribution to sustainable agriculture.

What is it?

Project that uses genome editing techniques to make rice plants smaller and more tolerant to a fungal disease.

Objectives

  1. Introduce specific mutations into the rice genome using gene editing techniques.
  2. Identify plants with semi-dwarf stature, which facilitates agronomic management and reduces the risk of lodging due to grain weight.
  3. Select lines with greater resistance to blast, one of the main fungal diseases affecting rice.
  4. Contribute to the development of more sustainable rice varieties adapted to current agronomic challenges.

Who carries it out?
