Promotion of value-added soybean cultivation

What is it?

Agrotecnio is developing a project to promote the cultivation of high-protein soybeans as a sustainable, profitable and local alternative in Catalonia and Aragon. The project includes applied research, technical advice and knowledge transfer to farmers.

Objectives

  • Promote local cultivation of non-GM soybeans in response to European demand.
  • Reduce dependence on imports and improve the sustainability of local agricultural systems.
  • Transfer scientific and technical knowledge to producers through trials, training and advice.

Who carries it out?

Agrotecnio, under the scientific leadership of Dr. Daniel Plaza Bonilla.

Elian Barcelona, an agro-industrial company with a soybean processing plant in the port of Barcelona.

Cerescamp SL, which provides technical and logistical support to participating farmers.

Funding

The project is funded by Elian Barcelona under a three-year collaboration agreement. Support includes advisory services, field trials, and outreach activities.
