Project
Palmernet
RedPalmer.net. Research dedicated to the study of Amaranthus palmeri.
What is it?
Palmer Net is a collaborative research network dedicated to the study of Amaranthus palmeri, a highly herbicide-resistant invasive weed. The initiative brings together several research groups from universities and specialised centres to address its challenges from an integrated perspective.
Objectives
- Investigate the biology, ecology and herbicide resistance of this invasive species.
- Develop tools and models for its control, including predictive and diagnostic systems.
- Coordinate between groups to share scientific data, methods and results.
- Disseminate and transfer results through conferences and communication with farmers and plant protection services.
Who carries it out?
The project is led by eight research groups:
- Universities:
- Universitat de Lleida (UdL)
- Universidad Pública de Navarra (UPNA)
- Universida de Vigo (UdV)
- Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV)
- Research Centres:
-
- Agrotecnio (lead partner)
- Centro de Investigación y Tecnología Agraria de Aragón (CITA)
- Instituto Nacional de Investigaciones Agrarias (INIA-CSIC)
- Centro de Investigaciones Científicas y Tecnológicas de Extremadura (CICYTEX)
The Phytosanitary Services of Catalonia, Aragon and Extremadura participate as ‘associated partners’.
Dr Joel Torra, researcher at Agrotecnio, acts as coordinator of PalmerNET.
