Breakfast4Inno returns: Agrotecnio, Parc Agrobiotech and Diputació de Lleida promote the third edition of this series

  • Innovation breakfasts are becoming a key meeting point between research and the agri-food sector.
  • This year, as the main new feature, the series includes a session in Tremp in July, which will strengthen its connection with the territory.

Agrotecnio, Parc Agrobiotech and Diputació de Lleida are promoting the third edition of the Breakfast4Inno series this year, an initiative that has already established itself as a regular meeting point for research, business, government and citizens, with the aim of promoting applied innovation and strengthening collaboration between the scientific community, the agri-food sector, the business community and public institutions.

Breakfast4Inno are working breakfasts that combine scientific dissemination, presentations of innovative projects and networking opportunities in a friendly and informal format. The aim is to bring research closer to the real needs of the productive sector and society, generate synergies and foster new collaborations.

One of the main new features of this edition is the holding of one of the breakfasts in Tremp in July, as part of a regional session that will highlight the potential of Pallars oil. The session will address the role of this product as a driver of rural development in the region.

The cycle will feature the participation of researchers not only from Agrotecnio, but also from other leading centres such as IRTA and CTFC, thus reinforcing its collaborative and inter-institutional nature.

Debates on the future of the agri-food sector

As in the two previous editions, a programme has been drawn up that addresses the key challenges for the future of the agri-food sector. Among the topics scheduled for 2026 are improving the resilience of cereals to climate change through new genetic and agronomic strategies, promoting the local cultivation of non-GM soybeans as a source of high-value vegetable protein, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions in livestock farming through animal nutrition and the use of innovative additives.

The series will also include a session dedicated to the application of data-based technologies, geostatistics and artificial intelligence to improve integrated pest management.  It will also address the valorisation of agri-food by-products by transforming transition milk into new functional foods through fermentation processes.

Finally, emerging trends in innovation will be presented, such as the use of epigenetics to improve health and production efficiency in the pig sector, the validation of robotics and agricultural digitisation technologies within the framework of the European AgrifoodTEF project, and the potential of aromatic and medicinal plants as a means of agricultural diversification with applications in health, food and cosmetics.
