Our programmes focus on four main activities: transgenic structure and function in genetically modified crops; metabolic engineering and production of pharmaceutical macromolecules in crop plants; engineering of multiple novel agronomic traits in crop plants; and functional genomics of cereals. We are also interested in training and technology transfer for biotechnology in developing countries, intellectual property issues, and regulatory and biosafety issues for transgenic crops, with a focus on developing countries, as well as science policy and strategic planning issues spanning the gap between basic and applied research.
