Palmernet

RedPalmer.net. Research dedicated to the study of Amaranthus palmeri.

What is it?

Palmer Net is a collaborative research network dedicated to the study of Amaranthus palmeri, a highly herbicide-resistant invasive weed. The initiative brings together several research groups from universities and specialised centres to address its challenges from an integrated perspective.

Objectives

  1. Investigate the biology, ecology and herbicide resistance of this invasive species.
  2. Develop tools and models for its control, including predictive and diagnostic systems.
  3. Coordinate between groups to share scientific data, methods and results.
  4. Disseminate and transfer results through conferences and communication with farmers and plant protection services.

Who carries it out?

The project is led by eight research groups:

The Phytosanitary Services of Catalonia, Aragon and Extremadura participate as ‘associated partners’.

Dr Joel Torra, researcher at Agrotecnio, acts as coordinator of PalmerNET.
