To address these concerns, the latest\u00a0Agrotecnio Early Career Forum\u00a0(held on\u00a0April 10) invited three seasoned journal editors\u2014Professors Gustavo Slafer, Robert Soliva, and \u00c0lex Bach\u2014to share their insights and practical advice. As with previous sessions, the event concluded with a tasting, this time featuring fresh spirulina products from local producer\u00a0Blauver Foods.\n\n<strong>The Editor\u2019s Dilemma: Standing Out in a Sea of Papers<\/strong>\n\nGustavo Slafer, ICREA, UdL &amp; Agrotecnio researcher, highlighted the overwhelming volume of submissions editors face:\u00a0\u201cEven if we did nothing but read, we couldn\u2019t cover everything published in our field.\u201d\u00a0His key advice?\u00a0Write for your audience.\u00a0A manuscript must not only present solid science but also\u00a0engage readers: clarity and compelling storytelling matter just as much as data.\n\nRobert Soliva referred to the complexity of the system and the importance of being clear about what you want to say and who is going to read it. The Agrotecnio researcher recommended that before writing, the author should ask himself or herself if the topic is interesting for the industry and peers. Soliva emphasized that\u00a0<strong>novelty alone isn\u2019t enough, <\/strong>research must address pressing questions to resonate with editors and peers.\u00a0<em>\u201cThe difference between acceptance and rejection often lies in communication, not quality,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0he noted. His tips for authors:\n<ul>\n <li><strong>Structure logically<\/strong>\u00a0(chronological order, clear results and conclusions).<\/li>\n <li><strong>Tailor content<\/strong>\u00a0to the journal\u2019s scope.<\/li>\n <li><strong>Seek external feedback<\/strong>\u00a0before submission.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\nLastly, ICREA researcher \u00c0lex Bach explained how, as an editor, it is important to consider three very important variables: novelty, objectives and conclusions -that must match the objectives-.
