The informative breakfast presented the case of two Spanish start-ups that convert food waste into high-value products, thus contributing to a circular economy and global sustainability.\u00a0\n\nThe companies <b>Chlydro<\/b> and <b>Dapibus<\/b>, already equipped with mature technologies, shared their experiences with the attendees. As highlighted by Antonio Cruz, project manager of <b>BiohubCat<\/b>, these companies have ongoing applications and pilot plants, demonstrating the potential impact and efficiency of their solutions.\u00a0\n<h3><strong>Chlydro: Microalgae to Combat Water Pollution<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Founded in 2022 in Madrid, <strong>Chlydro<\/strong> is a biotechnology company specializing in the cultivation of microalgae and aquatic plants to address major environmental challenges, such as water pollution. Its innovative technology captures atmospheric CO\u2082 and purifies wastewater, transforming these elements into sustainable biomass.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Marcos Alberto Fernandes<\/strong>, CEO of <strong>Chlydro<\/strong>, stated that the company aims to address three major global challenges:<\/p>\n\n<ol>\n <li>The need to increase global food production.<\/li>\n <li>Climate change, with CO\u2082 emissions reaching alarming levels.<\/li>\n <li>Clean water conservation, as more than 50% of the planet\u2019s groundwater is contaminated.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n \n\n<strong style=\"color: #333333; font-size: 22px;\">Dapibus: Insects as an Innovative Solution for Animal Feed<\/strong>\n<p>Founded in 2021, <strong>Dapibus<\/strong> is another biotechnology company that works with the <strong>Black Soldier Fly larvae<\/strong> to transform organic waste into high-value-added products. Its technology allows the production of quality animal protein, healthy lipids, and organic fertilizer, with applications in pet food, livestock farming, and aquaculture.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00c1lex Segura<\/strong>, CEO of <strong>Dapibus<\/strong>, emphasized that the company has an automated biotransformation center in <strong>Abrera (Barcelona)<\/strong>, the only one of its kind in Spain. Segura explained:<\/p>\n\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;With this plant, we are not only advancing the production of alternative proteins more efficiently, but we are also leading a transformation towards a more sustainable industrial model.
