The projects stand out for their strong focus on impact within the agri-food sector. The initiative has a total budget of more than 385,000 euros and is supported by the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food (DARPA) and the Department of Research and Universities of the Government of Catalonia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the third edition of a call that has already become a key tool for boosting collaborative projects within the centre and with other institutions. In line with Agrotecnio\u2019s<a href=\"https:\/\/chrome-extension:\/\/efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj\/https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/at-strategicplan24-29.pdf\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/chrome-extension:\/\/efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj\/https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/at-strategicplan24-29.pdf\"> strategic plan<\/a>, the initiative aims to foster cooperation between different areas of knowledge, promote innovation, and strengthen technology transfer to society and the productive sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this regard, priority has been given to proposals that integrate several Agrotecnio research groups and collaborations with external institutions, generating new scientific synergies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Agrotecnio director Jos\u00e9 Antonio Bonet, \u201cone of the central elements of the call is the strong push for multidisciplinary research, understood as an essential tool to address the major challenges of the current agri-food system. We reinforce our commitment to more cross-cutting research, capable of generating innovative and applicable solutions to the challenges of the agri-food sector.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The funded projects combine disciplines such as agricultural, environmental and food sciences with fields such as economics or agri-food law to address strategic challenges including sustainability, climate change mitigation, circular economy, and improved production efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1124\" height=\"749\" src=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/04\/20251211-agrotecnio018-andereupuig-1-1124x749.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5548\" srcset=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/04\/20251211-agrotecnio018-andereupuig-1-1124x749.jpg 1124w, https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/04\/20251211-agrotecnio018-andereupuig-1-600x400.jpg 600w, https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/04\/20251211-agrotecnio018-andereupuig-1-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/04\/20251211-agrotecnio018-andereupuig-1.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1124px) 100vw, 1124px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The projects, one by one<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 23 funded projects address key challenges in the agri-food sector from diverse and complementary perspectives:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>IPreFeR<\/strong>, led by researchers <a href=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/vicente-lopez-sacanell\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/vicente-lopez-sacanell\/\">Vicente L\u00f3pez<\/a> and<a href=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/pol-llagostera-blasco\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/pol-llagostera-blasco\/\"> Pol Llagostera<\/a>, promotes a modular precision feeding system for the pig sector, combining technology, animal nutrition and data analysis to improve production efficiency and reduce the environmental impact of farms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>AgroClimOrigins<\/strong>, by <a href=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/jose-luis-araus-ortega\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/jose-luis-araus-ortega\/\">Jos\u00e9 Luis Araus<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/joel-segarra-torruella\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/joel-segarra-torruella\/\">Joel Segarra<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/tatiana-shestakova\/\">Tatiana Shestakova<\/a>, connects archaeobotany, climate modelling and agricultural history to understand the origins of agroecosystems in the Near East and the Iberian Peninsula, providing new insights into agricultural adaptation to climate change over time. This project involves collaboration with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uab.cat\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.uab.cat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Universitat Aut\u00f2noma de Barcelona<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mac.cat\/ca\/HOME-MAC\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.mac.cat\/ca\/HOME-MAC\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Museu d\u2019Arqueologia de Catalunya<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/icac.cat\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/icac.cat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Institut Catal\u00e0 d\u2019Arqueologia Cl\u00e0ssica<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unizar.es\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.unizar.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">University of Zaragoza<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ehu.eus\/es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">University of the Basque Country<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>MYCOPHYS<\/strong> develops advanced physical technologies to remove mycotoxins from plant-based oat beverages, integrating engineering, food safety and process innovation to improve food quality. The project is led by researchers <a href=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/jean-carlos-correia-peres-costa\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/jean-carlos-correia-peres-costa\/\">Jean Carlos Correia<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/pedro-elez-martinez\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/pedro-elez-martinez\/\">Pedro Elez<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NGT1-Ready Bomba <\/strong>focuses on genome editing in rice with a platform prepared for regulatory requirements, combining biotechnology, compliance services and technology transfer to facilitate the creation of spin-offs. The project is led by <a href=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/maria-teresa-capell-capell\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/maria-teresa-capell-capell\/\">Teresa Capell <\/a>and Ester Vilari\u00f1o from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irblleida.org\/es\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.irblleida.org\/es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IRBLleida<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Multi-Trait WheatSecurity<\/strong> integrates genetics, agronomy and modelling to develop wheat varieties more resistant to climate change and diseases, strengthening food security in the Mediterranean basin. The project is led by <a href=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/jose-miguel-soriano-soriano\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/jose-miguel-soriano-soriano\/\">Jose Soriano<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/carlos-cantero-martinez\/\">Carlos Cantero<\/a> and Dolors Villegas from<a href=\"https:\/\/www.csic.es\/es\/el-csic\/organizacion\/institutos-centros-y-unidades\/estacion-experimental-aula-dei\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.csic.es\/es\/el-csic\/organizacion\/institutos-centros-y-unidades\/estacion-experimental-aula-dei\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> CISC-Aula Dei<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PREFIRE <\/strong>analyses the ecological response to prescribed burns through a standardised monitoring framework, combining ecology, forest management and data to improve the resilience of Mediterranean forests. The project is led by <a href=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/victor-resco-dedios\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/victor-resco-dedios\/\">V\u00edctor Resco<\/a> and J. Ramon Olabarria from <a href=\"https:\/\/ctfc.cat\/es\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/ctfc.cat\/es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CTFC<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PRRSVstop,<\/strong> by <a href=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/ana-stoian\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/ana-stoian\/\">Ana Maria Stoian<\/a> and Judith Ribas from IRBLleida, seeks sustainable antiviral compounds against one of the most relevant diseases in the pig sector, integrating virology, chemistry and animal production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Heat Stress in Heifers <\/strong>evaluates the impact of prenatal heat stress in dairy heifers, combining physiology, animal welfare and production to anticipate the effects of climate change on livestock farming. It is led by <a href=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/eber-rojas-canadas\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/eber-rojas-canadas\/\">Eber Rojas<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/houda-laghouaouta\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/houda-laghouaouta\/\">Houda Laghouaouta<\/a>, Maria Inmaculada Cuevas and Jos\u00e9 Maria S\u00e1nchez from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.juntadeandalucia.es\/agriculturaypesca\/ifapa\/web\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.juntadeandalucia.es\/agriculturaypesca\/ifapa\/web\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IFAPA<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>TRUFFLE-4D<\/strong> incorporates drones, data analysis and decision-support tools to optimise truffle plantation management, integrating digital technology and high-value agricultural production. It is led by <a href=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/jose-manuel-plata-moreno\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/jose-manuel-plata-moreno\/\">Jos\u00e9 Manuel Plata<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/jordi-llorens-calveras\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/jordi-llorens-calveras\/\">Jordi Llorens<\/a> and Daniel Oliach from CFTC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>AGRIFAM-IA<\/strong> addresses generational renewal in family farms by combining law, economics and artificial intelligence to ensure sector continuity and competitiveness. It is led by <a href=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/paloma-de-barron-arniches\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/paloma-de-barron-arniches\/\">Paloma de Barron <\/a>and Jordi Moguel from UAB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Truffle Legal Framework<\/strong> works towards an integrated legal framework for the truffle sector, connecting regulation, economics and rural development. It is led by <a href=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/cesar-cierco-seira\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/cesar-cierco-seira\/\">C\u00e9sar Cierco<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/jose-antonio-bonet-lledos\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/jose-antonio-bonet-lledos\/\">Jos\u00e9 Antonio Bonet<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>HT-CALF<\/strong> explores the use of bioactive compounds to improve calf health and resilience, integrating nutrition, physiology and livestock production. It is led by <a href=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/agusti-noya-clave\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/agusti-noya-clave\/\">Agust\u00ed Noya<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/beatriz-serrano-perez\/\">Beatriz Serrano<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/maria-alba-macia-puig\/\">Alba Maci\u00e0 <\/a>and Albina Sanz from <a href=\"https:\/\/cita-aragon.es\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/cita-aragon.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CITA<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PEACH-DRIVERS<\/strong> analyses factors affecting peach yield and disease development, combining agronomy, plant pathology and environmental analysis. The project leaders are <a href=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/gemma-reig\/\">Gemma Reig<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/laura-vilanova\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/laura-vilanova\/\">Laura Vilanova.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>AI-PIGINSIGHT<\/strong> applies artificial intelligence and big data to improve sustainability and competitiveness in the pig sector, integrating digital technologies and animal production. It is led by <a href=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/lluis-miquel-pla-aragones\/\">Lluis Miquel Pla<\/a> and Eduard Crist\u00f3bal from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.udl.cat\/ca\/es\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.udl.cat\/ca\/es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">University of Lleida<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>SOLIVES,<\/strong> by <a href=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/evan-netherton-marks\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/agrotecnio.org\/equip\/evan-netherton-marks\/\">Evan A.N.
