March was a particularly dry month and, according to data from the Spanish State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), it was also one of the warmest of the century, with 1.8\u00baC above average for this time of year.\n\nIn this context and on the occasion of the investiture as Doctor Honoris Causa of the University of Lleida of Professor El\u00edas Fereres (University of Cordoba, Institute of Sustainable Agriculture-CSIC), the conference &#8220;Water and agriculture: Research and development for sustainable agriculture in a context of water scarcity&#8221; will take place on 13rd June.\n\nThe event will be held in the auditorium of the Escola T\u00e8cnica Superior d&#8217;Enginyeria Agroaliment\u00e0ria i Forestal i de Veterin\u00e0ria de Lleida (ETSEAFIV), from 15:30 to 20:30. Registration is open through <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSfw-exuNirNVA-bP6DjuGQ1jvX-I-1LQfx8pm-Tmll_Z_zXIA\/viewform\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this link<\/a>.\u00a0 In addition, the conference can be followed online through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Dzwqpbq7yV8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">YouTube channel of the Spanish Royal Academy of Engineering<\/a>.\n\nDuring the conference, the scientific and technological progress of the last decades will be analyzed, in particular on efficient irrigation, adaptation to climate change, remote sensing in water management or the use of water in rainfed systems.\n\nThe social challenges posed by the use of water in agriculture in the coming years will not be forgotten.
